Click here to read the lyrics for "I Fall in Love Too Easily" as sung by Frank Sinatra
on the album Best of the Columbia Years 1943 - 1952. This version includes both the refrainand the verse, though not with the verse, which ends with the line "But Love is my Fav'rite Game" clearly set off from the refrain.

Cahn's verse begins with a generalization: There is a class of lovers to which the singer claims to want to belong: "I wish I were the same" as those who can "leave love or take it." He wants to play the "game" in a way that will leave him free from regret. Thus Cahn sets up his refrain to express the singer's realization that love leaves him with a very poignant regret indeed -- because he "falls in love too easily" and "too terribly hard."
