Jule Styne: "I don't sit at a piano and compose a song. I sit in my chair and I write a song. I hear the whole thing. After I've sketched it out, I go to the piano to hear what this thing I sat and wrote sounds like. I alter it then and make harmonic changes. The brain is like a comuter: what you put into it, it wil give you back."
